The "VisuFlex" project of the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR) shows that flexibilised biogas plants can compensate for the fluctuating electricity generation of volatile renewable energies (e.g. wind power) and at the same time benefit significantly from this.

With our experience from over 20 asset types, we are particularly specialised in the optimisation of highly flexible biogas plants on the day-ahead and intraday markets. In recent years, balancing energy marketing has been an excellent option for biogas plants in continuous operation. However, with the expansion of renewable energies such as wind and PV power, electricity prices are becoming increasingly volatile and flexible biogas plant operators are missing out on opportunities to generate additional revenue. We have therefore developed a multi-market trading optimisation for highly flexible biogas plants.
Our algorithms, which are customised to your biogas plant, scan all relevant markets (balancing energy and wholesale market) and decide at which market prices to buy and/or sell.
Thanks to the dynamic combination of day-ahead, intraday and SRL, we were able to achieve around +25% more profit in 2023 than in pure schedule operation. The negative SRL had a value of around €150,000/MW in 2023, which was very lucrative, especially for the "long-runners".
